Financial Business and Consumer Solutions Data Breach Information

Financial Business and Consumer Solutions, Inc. (“FBCS”) recently provided notice of a data security incident that may have impacted a limited amount of consumer personal information. FBCS is a debt collection agency and may have personal information to provide debt collection services.


On February 26, 2024, FBCS discovered unauthorized access to certain systems in its network. This incident did not impact computer systems outside of FBCS’s network. FBCS took steps to secure the impacted environment and launched an investigation with the assistance of third-party computer forensics specialists to determine the full nature and scope of the incident. FBCS determined that the environment was subject to unauthorized access between February 14, 2024, and February 26, 2024.


The unauthorized actor had the ability to view or acquire certain information on the FBCS network during the period of access. Therefore, FBCS undertook a comprehensive review of the data at risk to assess if any sensitive information could be affected and to whom it related. Recently, notice of the incident and the impact to personal information was provided to the company from which the debt originated. The types of information potentially affected by this incident include individuals’ names, addresses, account numbers, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and driver’s license numbers. FBCS has stated that they have no indication that any information has been misused in relation to this event.


Upon discovering this incident, FBCS conducted an investigation to confirm the nature and scope of the incident. FBCS has also implemented additional safeguards in a newly built environment. This matter has also been reported to federal law enforcement. Impacted individuals can also enroll in credit monitoring and identity protection services and should monitor their financial statements and credit reports an immediately report any suspicious activity.
